Community Outreach

The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation’s outreach program is currently available for disadvantaged schools in New Jersey.  The program “A Pilot You May Be” was introduced to nine schools, reaching over 1100 children ages 7 – 10.  The Foundation also participated in the Read Across America program by encouraging supporters to contact their local schools on behalf of The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation and read the children’s book “Amelia and Eleanor Take A Ride”, a book based on a true story about a flight that Eleanor Roosevelt and Amelia Earhart shared.  Both programs were well received with requests coming for us to visit again this school year.  A big thanks to Teresa Villarreal at Catavia Kids (www.cataviakids.com) for providing the Black Box CD Rom utilized in the program.

  1. He is doing best.Being a pilot from a poor background is very difficult, nobody will ever afford the flying fees wthout help from others. Most scholarships focus on different areas other than aviation, there are only a few organisations that help students in aviation.I felt happy when i saw this organisation on the internet.

I recently passed my medicals and my intro flights at bird aviation in South Africa. Now i have got a student’s pilot license in hand.I am supposed to start my studies on 13 January 2020.I come from a poor background in Zimbabwe,my father is late & my mom is just a peasant farmer in the rural areas of Zimbabwe.

I am hoping that this organisation will help me to fulfill my ambition of being a pilot one day. If i finish,i am gonna get back to the poor community coz i think,i understand better the situation on the ground from wr i am coming from.

Leroy keep on this good work. We gonna be part of this organisation together soon.
